OUTINGS FOR JUNE 2025

Tuesday 3rd June

Ashridge Estate is the National Trust’s largest ancient woodland with ancient trees, such as beech and oak, commons and rolling chalk downlands and lush meadows in an area of outstanding natural beauty.    These very different landscapes each support a rich variety of wildlife, including carpets of bluebells in spring, rare butterflies in summer and fallow deer that rut in autumn.  Ashridge has over 80 miles of pathways and 5,000 acres of woodland to explore.  Near to the entrance there is an outdoor café, visitor centre, shop, bookshop and plant shop.

Departure: 10.00 am, Return: 3 pm. Travel fee: £11.  Entry to the Estate is free.

Friday 20th June

Marble Hill House is the last complete survivor of the Georgian elegant villas and gardens that bordered the Thames between Richmond and Hampton Court.  Visit the House with its freshly conserved interiors and new displays before exploring over 60 acres of riverside parkland, with restored gardens and reinvigorated woods, followed by lunch or a snack in the refurbished café.  English Heritage members are advised to bring their card.

Departure: 10.15 am, Return: 3 pm. Travel fee: £9.   Entry to the House is free.
