Outings for October 2026

We have one minibus and two public transport trips this month. Please note that the maximum number for public transport trips is 10 passengers, and for minibuses 16 passengers.

 1. Wednesday 7th October

Guildford   by minibus

We will leave Harrow at 9.30 am and travel to Guildford, a country town in Surrey which has a modern cathedral built in the 20^th century, and is well worth a visit. There is also a museum and an ancient castle with award winning grounds which are free to visit. There are also plenty of shops, cafes and a picturesque High Street. We will leave Guildford in the early afternoon and plan to be back in Harrow by 4.30 pm. Cost of travel £12

2. Thursday 15th October

Cassiobury Park Tea Pavilion  by Public Transport

We will meet at Harrow at 11.00 am and travel to Watford on the Metropolitan Line. The station is adjacent to the park, which is the largest in Watford and was the site of the now demolished Cassiobury House, the home of the Earls of Essex. The Tea Pavilion serves high quality food including snacks and lunches. There will be time to explore other parts of this pleasant park, depending on how long you wish to spend in the cafe. We will return to Harrow by 3.30 pm. No charge for Over 60’s and Freedom Pass holders. Lunch in the cafe from about £13.00 plus drinks.

 3. Tuesday 27th October

Bank of England Museum and Museum of the Home  by Public Transport

These two museums have free admission and are situated in the City of London and Kingsland Road Hoxton respectively, conveniently connected by the 149 bus route. We will meet at Harrow at 10.00 am and go by Metropolitan Line to Liverpool Street, for the short bus ride to the Bank of England. There are many interesting exhibits covering the history of the Bank from 1694 to the present day, and you can try to lift a gold bar. We will then travel (without the gold bar) by bus to Hoxton, where we will visit the Museum of the Home, formerly the Geffrye Museum, which explores the development of English homes and gardens over the past 400 years. There will be a stop for coffee/lunch between the two visits.

Return to Harrow by 4.00 pm. No charge for Over 60 and Freedom Pass holders. Off Peak day return about £11.00.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as tube strikes or unserviceable lifts, we may have to vary the itinerary and you will be advised before departure if we know of this in advance.
